Glove & mitt sizing for 10U

Travel volume goes up — size for position and control, not the biggest number on the shelf. Reviewed October 23, 2026.

Parent disclaimer: Sizing charts are starting points. Brands and hand shapes differ — try gloves on when you can, and confirm any mitt rules with your league or coach. We don’t give medical advice.

1. Age snapshot

10U is when many kids settle into a primary position for weekends. You can start buying for that position while keeping a soft youth break-in. Still skip adult outfield patterns unless the player’s hand fills them.

Typical fielder range: Everyday fielder gloves usually 10–11.5″. Plenty of 10U travel players live at 11–11.5″.

How to measure (hand & glove)

Charts below are parent buying ranges — not medical or coaching prescriptions. Brands vary; try on when you can.

2. Sizing by position

First base often uses a dedicated mitt (larger, shallow scoop) once kids play there regularly — usually introduced more seriously around 11U–14U.

3. Quick buying checklist

  1. Know the primary position (or buy a versatile middle size if they float).
  2. Match the inch range above — then prioritize a glove they can close.
  3. Soft / easy-break-in leather beats a stiff “pro” model they can’t squeeze.
  4. Confirm throw-hand (RHT vs LHT) before checkout.
  5. Plan break-in time before the first tournament weekend.
